River Falls 1966

I dug up these photos in an effort to acclimate myself for my pending visit home. These were taken in 1966 or maybe late 1965, our first year in Wisconsin, when the drifts were still a novelty... and when we truly lived at the edge of town and the wind had more of a chance to scuplt the snow.

This view looking back towards our house is taken from a prime sledding hill, all of which is developed now.

Dykstra Uncles

Brothers John and Ralph Dykstra who married sisters Anna and Nellie Holstein in 1918.

Chris and David

I'm working through a series of slides from Muskegon 1963 and will have them all in a slideshow eventually, but here are some shots of Chris and David finding many sources of amusement at the beach.

On the Move

I plan to put together a "Fritz" slideshow at some point, but for now here is a picture from 1962 of Fritz, a dog with places to go.

Movie Recommendation

Yesterday I went to see the movie Sweet Land about immigrants in Minnesota in 1920. For those who enjoy family/Midwest history, who like a nice gentle love story...with political overtones, I highly recommend it! Lost Child

The original labelling on this slide was a bit tentative making this baby something of an orphan in the collection. Perhaps the Hathaways will take this child in and give her a home?

Dirk on the beach.

Mom remembered this slide of Martin because of the beautiful lighting. It may have been more impressive when it was projected as a slide or before some of the color drained out, but its still a lovely composition.

What a quaint little place! Especially with that Poet with Pipe character propped in front.
