I hope there is a whale of a tale behind this charming picture. How about it Wystan?
Perhaps David knows?

Not much of a story: A.K. rented a cottage at Port Sheldon on Lake Michigan, for a couple of weeks in the summer of 1954. Beach photos show that Mary, Eve and I were there with Mom and Dad, and Brad with David and Marc. Grace and Connie brought Christopher. I must have been eleven years old. I dangled a fishing line from the ramshackle wooden bridge that crossed the entrance to the harbor of Pigeon Lake. (Which wasn't really a harbor, because the channel from Lake Michigan was closed by a sandbar.) I caught a pike. I'm pretty sure this was the only time in my life that I ever went fishing. We cooked the fish, and I got to eat some of it. It was good.
On his Flickr site, Will Hathaway has photos of the fishing party on the Port Sheldon bridge. Eve caught a fish, too, but it got cooked and eaten before she could pose with it, so A. K. bought a smoked fish and took her picture as she hoisted it aloft.
Thanks Wystan! TerMaats have so many fish trophy pictures that they blur together with no colorful details to attach. You are fortunate to have this singular experience!
